tahiti: (Stewie is my Hero! // Family Guy)
(x-posted in my xanga)
So I thought this week was gonna rock, seeing as how my parents were gonna be gone, and my sister spending the week with my grandparents up in Missouri. Which meant I had the house ALL TO MYSELF. (if you don't count the dogs) So yeah, I was like.. hell yeah, this is gonna rule. It did rule, but it also kinda sucked. This is a tale of the most EXTREME kind of suckiness out there. Have fun.

I spent Wednesday afternoon with Shakila and her lovely family. It was quite fun exploring the mall with them. We caught up with some people from band n'such, has some small talk, ect. It turns out Shakila and I share a love for the Waldenbooks store, but for different reasons ^_^. The sky was already looking overcast when we left the mall to find food. We were eating at Taco Bell when the sky decided to release a little of it's fury upon the land. I dropped Shakila and her family off, and hurried home to make sure my doggies were doing okay.

I arrived home and settled myself in for the long night ahead. Already Libby was feeling skittish. She hid herself underneath my desk and nervously roamed the house. Lilo(the evil one) was just as stupid as ever, trying to push herself into the fray, only adding much discomfort on my part. My power flickered once and awhile, but never shut off. My satellite messed up once in awhile, so I contented myself by putting on some music and reading my new book - Love and Death: The Murder of Kurt Cobain (got it for only 6 bucks!). After awhile.. I recieved a phone call from Rochelle, who informed me that her power had been cut off. She asked if she could come over, since she graciously opened her home to me when my own power had been off. I obliged, and believing that it would only be a short trip around the neighborhood, put my dogs in my car, and got in, not bothering with shoes. Big mistake.
I knew that there was trouble when I was heading down the street I usually take to get to Chelle's house. I was all over the road, and I could barely see ahead. I finally made it to Chelle's house, and I was anxious to get home. When I went to head back to my house, I found that I couldn't take either of the streets I usually take to get back to my house, so I had to drive up the street known as Suicide Hill. When I arrived at a street I could turn on to head towards my house, a car was already at the stop sign, just kind of sitting there. I didn't know what was going on, so I turned to the left, intending to go down Douglas, a street that would take me to my house. And then... it happened.
As my car turned into Douglas, it landed in a HUGE backup of water. My car instantly stalled in the water, and I started freaking out. Chelle got out of the car to try and push it out, but it was all in vain. A police officer came up and told us he had to get us outta there, that we had to walk to my house. I told him that I had my two dogs and I couldn't walk them home this way. So he finally put us into his car, and I was forced to leave my car there. When I stepped outside of my car, the water was up to my knees, and if it got any higher, would've gotten inside of my car.
The officer took us home, but only to the beginning of my street. We would've have to run the dogs down my street in the pouring rain. As we were running towards my house, Chelle noticed that my gum had fell out of my purse. She stopped to get it, and when we reached my garage, I grabbed my purse, and noticed that 3 important things were missing: my cell phone, my garage door opener, AND my wallet, which had my credit card, student ID for SFA, AND my driver's license. Chelle ran off to try and find them, and I put the dogs inside and joined her. She found my wallet, but neither my garage door opener, nor my cell phone was there. (I used the garage code to get inside, if ya'll are wondering).
I was happy that I at least had my wallet, but I was probably having a panic attack over losing my cell, garage door opener, and my car. My stomach was hurting and I was shaking, and I'm sure Chelle was no better off. We finally went inside and got into some dry clothes. I dried off my dogs, and made sure they were okay, and we sat down on the computers for a bit. Chelle started freaking out, and I told her it wasn't her fault, and that I had chosen to go get her. Finally, we were just went to bed. I put both of the dogs in my room, and Chelle took Amy's room. About 2:30 (a couple of hours after my car got stuck), I got a phone call from the police: I could go move my car. An officer came and picked me up and I was astonished to see that the knee deep water that had surrounded my car a few hours earlier was completely GONE. I went to go start my car, but it wouldn't start. My heart sank, believing that my car may have to be destroyed. The officer told me to put it in neutral, and we moved it out of the street. He took me home and I headed back inside. While I was rather upset about that, we had some good news: Chelle had found my garage door opener in her bag. We both had our Kuro-Neko bags with us, so I had put it in hers. Two down, one more to go. I also asked the officer to ask the other officer who had helped us to check his car to see if my cell phone was in his car. So.. it's either in his car, or in a sewer somewhere. Blah.
Chelle and I finally played a few games of DDR, and we fell asleep.
We woke up about 10 the next morning to walk down to try to start my car again. Sadly, it didn't work, and I finally decided to call my aunt. She said she'd send her boyfriend's son over to check on it, and if it still didn't work, to pull my mom's Jeep out of the garage. He looked it over, but didn't want to do anything that might hurt my car even more that it might've been. So he got my mom's car out, and I finally had to head to work.
My aunt promised to come over that night and take a look at if and see what she could do. But because some of our customers loitered around longer than usual, she decided she'd come by in the morning.
I headed home and picked up the house a little, watching some Adult Swim. Around 10:30 or so, my aunt called me to tell me she had to go drop off the key to her boyfriend's son's truck so she'd come over and work on my car.
She picked me up and we went down to my car to try and jump it. We started charging my battery, and finally... my car started! We let it charge for a little longer, and with a little smoke coming from my exhaust pipe, I took my car home. My aunt and I tried to find a battery charger in my garage, but sadly, my dad didn't have one. I was just happy to have my car back. I finally decided that I would still have to inform my parents of what happened, and I called Chelle to tell her that my car was working and to wish me luck.
I called my mom first, but having gotten her voice mail, I tried my dad. He answered, and I proceeded to tell him what happened. He told me not to worry, that we'd take care of it once they got home, and that he was just glad my car was back, I was okay, and that it wasn't anyone's fault. I called Chelle again, slightly amazed at how calm my father was, and a few minutes later, my mom called. Expecting to be chewed out, I was surprised to hear my mom ask if I was okay. She, too, was rather calm about it, which leads me to believe that A) They were either both drunk, B) They won A LOT of money gambling, or C) both. (I'm shooting for the a lot of money part so maybe I can get a cool new cell.) So yeah. They know, and I made sure that they wouldn't have anything to really yell at me when they came home.
I picked up the house a bit, and made sure the towels from my party were washed and dried. I didn't get a chance to fold them, but I feel a little better knowing that at least they're washed.
Anywho.. that was my whole incident. Quite an adventure, eh? And you know what the best part is...?
CHELLE'S FLY WAS OPEN THE ENTIRE TIME!
I'm dead serious. Like, Chelle and I were in my office, just trying to kinda mellow out from the adventures. She starts crying, saying how it's her fault, I start crying saying it's my fault. We're just crying and crying and crying, and finally Chelle notices the commercial for that weird show on Adult Swim.. the one where this chick has little tassel things on her boobs and they just kinda.. go around and around and around.. and she's like.. "what the hell..?" and we start cracking up, and then she informs me of the open fly. Good times my friends. Good times.
But anywho.. after all this had happened, I still had to go to work today. My parents arrived home and my dad came up to the shop to show off all the cigars he had. (They had to buy ANOTHER SUITCASE to fit all those damn things in there. My god.) And while he's up there, he starts fiddling with my sister's cell phone. I'm like.. what are you doing.. ? And I pick up my sister's cell and I notice.. it's not the one ringing. And I'm staring at my dad as he PULLS OUT MY CELL PHONE FROM HIS POCKET! I WAS LIKE YOU FOUND IT!!!!!!!!
Turns out it WAS in the police officer's car. I am SO sending the CH police a thank you note. I <3 them. YAAAAAAY!
Mmkay.. and apparently Chelle and I are garage sisters. Why? Because we both have hit garages with cars. Yes, we r teh smart 0n3s. Indeed.
Anywho.. I'm getting a little tired, and I know this is probably boring some people.. but yeah.. it's been a long week.
Until we meet again,
Tahiti
P.S. If it's too long.. please let me know. I'll gladly LJ-cut.
